Tears In Heaven
Over 5 years ago on April 4 of 2014, I became a victim of domestic violence and lost my 3 year old daughter. My estranged husband became despondent and murdered our child before committing suicide.
National Domestic Violence Hotline: Call 1-800-799-7233
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Call 1-800-273-8255
We can all help prevent suicide. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.
This was an unthinkable and shocking tragedy and I found myself emotionally paralyzed and nearly unable to function at all. Yet despite the emotional storm of such tragedy there were matters that had to be attended and decisions to be made.
Funeral arrangements had to be made for my darling little girl and questions needed to be addressed regarding the deposition of my ex-husband. This tragedy created multiple victims of the entire family.
As time passed it became clear that I wanted to do something to help prevent this from happening and support others who may be similarly affected. So I formed this organization for the following core purpose.
Tears in Heaven’s mission:
1. Work to educate the general public on violence by helping to identify alarming signs of stress and despondency
2. Work to raise awareness about suicide/ homicide.
3. Research and gather data that could be helpful for prevention of suicide/ homicide.
4. Gather charitable resources to provide support and help families in the immediate aftermath of similar tragedies.
